World Sleep Day Reception Update!

On 12 March, Sleep Action hosted our Parliamentary Reception, “Wake Up to Sleep on World Sleep Day 2026.” We were thrilled to see such an impressive turnout at The Scottish Parliament and hugely grateful for the enthusiasm and engagement from everyone who joined us.

It was a packed room – MSPs, academics, pupils, and partners all came together to hear our young speakers share, with real clarity and confidence, how sleep education has shaped their learning and their lives. From testing out sleep‑deprivation goggles to stepping inside our teenage bedroom, the energy in the room was incredible. Watch the video highlights below:

A week later, the momentum hasn’t slowed – and neither have we. Ensuring young people learn about sleep is more vital than ever. Sleep isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity, as essential to health and wellbeing as good nutrition and exercise.

A huge thanks to Colin Beattie MSP for sponsoring the event, and to all MSPs who took the time to listen, learn, and support the work of Sleep Action, plus all of our Manifesto Signatories. Thank you to our partners at the University of St Andrews, as well as our event supporters and speakers from Victoria Primary School, Falkirk, and the University of Glasgow SHINE network and HBSC.

Please keep helping us raise awareness. If you haven’t yet read our Manifesto or signed our Change.org petition, you can do so below.
