Supporting Good Sleep is a self-led set of modules that therapists and counsellors can work through at their own pace. Materials are presented through text, videos, and interactive quiz elements. It will take around 1.5-2 hours to complete, and participants will have 3 months to do so. This course is designed for psychological therapists and counsellors looking to integrate sleep support to their practice.

The course will cover the following topics:  

  • What is sleep – physiology of sleep, including circadian rhythm and sleep stages
  • What happens when we don’t get good sleep? 
  • What can affect sleep? Focus on mental and physical health conditions which can affect sleep 
  • How to support your client to get a good night’s sleep   and integrate sleep support to your therapeutic approach
  • Supporting resources to take away

  • To give participants a good knowledge of sleep physiology 
  • To explore relationship between sleep and common mental and physical health conditions
  • To give participants ideas how to support clients to have healthier sleep.

This course is aimed at registered counsellors and therapists. It should be helpful for professionals looking to incorporate sleep advice to their therapeutic approach. The course will advise when to seek medical assistance in relation to sleep issues.
